Award-winning director, David Atkins commissioned us to create in-performance content for his production of Hairspray, The Musical.
For the first time ever, traditional sets were replaced with enormous LED screens. Our role was to fill them with vibrant imagery that would help shape the sets and performances.
Content ranged from colourful backdrops for the songs to scene imagery that developed a sense of place, such as panoramas of Baltimore in the 50s and 60s.
We also designed moments of interaction between cast and content where the actors seemed to move between stage and screen.
The show was met with universal and critical acclaim.
